Early Intermediate Christmas Piano Solos

Simply Christmas fills an important gap between very easy Christmas piano books and collections written for more advanced pianists.

The arrangements are mostly at the early-intermediate level, making them a great choice for developing pianists who have moved beyond elementary Christmas arrangements but aren't ready for highly advanced concert settings.

They're also intentionally brief, giving students the opportunity to learn several polished Christmas pieces during the holiday season rather than spending weeks preparing a single lengthy arrangement.

Arranged by Christos Tsitsaros

These aren't simply stripped-down versions of familiar Christmas tunes.

Arranger Christos Tsitsaros gives all 24 carols short, elegant piano settings designed to be satisfying to play while remaining accessible to the early-intermediate pianist.

The result is a collection that works equally well as teaching repertoire and enjoyable Christmas music for recreational pianists.

Christmas Piano Music That Progresses in Difficulty

Another useful feature for teachers and students is the organization of the collection.

While the arrangements are primarily early intermediate, they progress slightly in order of difficulty.

That makes it possible for a pianist to begin with the more accessible selections and gradually work through more challenging pieces as their skills and confidence grow.

Perfect for a Christmas Piano Recital

Need a Christmas recital piece that sounds polished without becoming a major semester-long project?

That's exactly where Simply Christmas shines.

These 24 arrangements are deliberately brief, making them excellent choices for:

• Christmas piano recitals
• Holiday school performances
• Church Christmas programs
• December piano lessons
• Family Christmas gatherings
• Seasonal sight-reading
• Christmas Eve music
• Personal holiday playing

Traditional Sacred Christmas Piano Music

The collection is especially strong for pianists looking for traditional sacred Christmas carols.

Favorites include Angels We Have Heard on High, Away in a Manger, The First Noel, Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, Joy to the World, O Come, All Ye Faithful, O Holy Night, Silent Night, We Three Kings of Orient Are and What Child Is This?.

That makes Simply Christmas an appealing collection for church musicians and families who want traditional sacred Christmas repertoire alongside familiar seasonal favorites.

O Holy Night – Early Intermediate Piano Solo

O Holy Night is included among the 24 arrangements, giving developing pianists an opportunity to play one of the most beloved sacred songs of the Christmas season in a polished solo setting.

Silent Night – Early Intermediate Piano Solo

Silent Night is another highlight of the collection.

Its peaceful character makes it especially appropriate for Christmas Eve, church programs, holiday recitals and quiet family gatherings.

Ukrainian Bell Carol – Early Intermediate Piano

The collection also includes Ukrainian Bell Carol, the traditional melody widely associated with Christmas and frequently heard throughout the holiday season.

It's an especially fun contrast to the collection's more lyrical and reflective carols.

In the Bleak Midwinter – Piano Solo

Pianists looking beyond the most common Christmas repertoire will appreciate the inclusion of In the Bleak Midwinter.

Along with selections such as Coventry Carol, Pat-A-Pan and Ding Dong! Merrily on High!, it gives the collection more variety than a book containing only the most familiar Christmas standards.

Great Christmas Sight-Reading Material

Not every piece of Christmas music needs to become a major performance project.

Hal Leonard specifically recommends these short arrangements for sight-reading, making Simply Christmas a useful seasonal resource for developing pianists.

A teacher can assign several pieces during December, use them for holiday sight-reading exercises or simply let students explore the collection and choose their favorites.

Christmas Music for Playing at Home

This is also the kind of Christmas book that belongs on the family piano throughout December.

Pull it out when family comes over. Play a few carols before Christmas dinner. Let everyone sing along. Choose something quiet for Christmas Eve.

With 24 short arrangements, there's plenty of music to explore without every selection requiring extensive preparation.

A Great Christmas Piano Book for Teachers

Piano teachers can get a lot of mileage from Simply Christmas.

The combination of familiar melodies, short arrangements and gradually increasing difficulty makes it particularly useful for early-intermediate students during the holiday season.

Students can choose a polished recital piece while teachers can use other selections for sight-reading, supplemental repertoire or simply something fun to play during December lessons.
