God of Our Fathers, Whose Almighty Hand

Organ and Congregation/Choir
Chad Staten

When we do this hymn in Sacrament Meeting, we already enjoy having a second organist on the bench to do the fanfare on a separate manual to get as big a reed sound as we can. To get a more “English Cathedral” performance, conisder adding this trumpet solo line to the last verse of the hymn, having the main organist play the fanfare with the rest of the hymn on a separate (probably the great) manual. The newer Allen Protege models have an English Tuba on the swell manual, which is exactly the right kind of sound for this solo line. The mp3 here is exported from Sibelius to give you an idea what it sounds like.
